Developers and investors attended a special preview of the open house before it was open to the public broadly. The workshop was held in person on November 14, with a virtual open house available for those unable to attend. There are online and in-person opportunities for the community to participate which will be posted here. The public input process began in September and will conclude with an Open House in June. All of these documents can be obtained through the Planning Department.Public input is an important part of the Master Plan Process. Planning is also responsible for administering and maintaining the Commerce Township Zoning Ordinance 3.000, the Master Plan, and the Official Zoning Map as well as producing an annual report, which outlines activities for the last year, goals for the upcoming year and status of various planning projects. The Planning Department prepares all reviews and agendas for both the Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals as well as staff reviews to the Township Board as needed. This includes reviewing all site plans, rezonings, special land uses, site condominium projects (residential, commercial and industrial), subdivision plats, planned unit developments, text amendments and variances. Planning is responsible for assisting citizens and developers with all aspects of their development needs.
